Studying Communication Studies at Andalas University has been a wonderful experience filled with new knowledge. Although the road of education isn't always smooth, I still went through it all. For the 7th semester, every concentration that my major offers (1. Media, Television and Film, 2. Public Relations, 3. Journalism and 4. Communication Management), students will have to organize an event related to their chosen concentration they study, including my class in Media, Television and Film, for the course Art Showcase.
Beforehand, in the 6th semester my concentration MTF had to make a short movie for the course Film Production. The short movie we made was titled "16:12"; a story about a college student who comes from a broken home (like me) trying to figure out what he should do. My role of this project? I was the Art Director and Hair Stylist. This short movie was shown on the big screen on 19 September 2022 for the first time to the audience for our course Art Showcase. The other 3 concentrations followed after with their events on 20, 21 and 22 September. Everyone was very creative coming up with different ideas and putting them together to represent their concentration.
Then for the big day, all 4 concentrations had to work together to organize the final event related not to our concentrations, but to our major Communication Studies. This day happened to be on the 28th of September 2022. During this event different awards were given to students and even lecturers. Awards such as Most Active Student, Best Videographer and Favorite Lecturer. Not to forget to mention that the preparation for each event took lots of time from days to weeks to even more than 2-3 months. But it was an amazing day till night for all of us but also emotional for me as I felt as if my education road was about to come to an end with everyone together.
After the Art Showcase event, everyone went separate ways, focusing on our community service, internship, other education subjects and our own personal life. But these study courses such as Film Production and Art Showcase surely have brought us all together since after the pandemic. We've become closer, known each other better and made memories together. My quote will always be: "Memories are made to Remember 🇸🇷"
