For part 2 of my MBKM-KKN video, my teammates and I continued to do our surveys.
On Tuesday, the 23rd of August, we visited a library in a small area near the beach. A library built in someone’s house. Unfortunately, I only took pictures this day. Afterwards, we went to one of our teammates’ house to take some pictures for our identity cards.
On the 25th, we sat down with the head of the village to discuss about our continuity in the morning. Near Kampung Elo Pukek, we met the Group Leader of Elo Pukek (Ketua Kelompok Elo Pukek). We listened carefully to what he was saying and could be done here. After meeting the Group Leader of Elo Pukek, we went to another area to meet a Member of the Formation of Tourism Awareness Group (Anggota Pembentukan Kelompok Sadar Wisata) who shares with us about the area near Padang Beach (Pantai Padang) and gave us a tour around. The unexpectedly and funniest thing what she told us was seeing the LGBT couples passing by and sitting together at the seashore romantically, but also girls who are 'Kuliah Malam' which literally means 'Evening College' (if you know what she means by that) in this area.
On the 26th we went to Kampung Elo Pukek. Here we did a survey again and gave the fishermen a hand pulling out the fishing net of the water which far away. Not to forget to mention that this is harder than what it looks like which actually took a couple of strong man to do the work. Here we can see the results of all the fishes they caught and was sold freshly and directly beside the road. Later on, we went to clean up the beach by hand. This whole program is an off-campus program, which means we don’t appear on campus but our activities are outside of campus at our designated location.
My location is at Purus, Padang Barat (West Padang) in West Sumatra, Indonesia.
